Fleur De Lis Tummy Tuck
Why Fleur De Lis Tummy Tuck?
For many people, there comes a time when diet and exercise are no longer an effective means of tightening and toning the abdomen. Some people experience a plateau in their weight loss journey that is not easily overcome.
One type of surgery, however, removes the obstacle blocking the realization of your aesthetic goals.
At Reflections Cosmetic Surgery we are proud to offer Fleur De Lis tummy tuck.
Read on to find out if this cosmetic surgery procedure is a good fit for you.
What Is Fleur De Lis Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck is easily one of the more recognizable surgical procedures around. However, few people are aware of the Fleur De Lis Tummy Tuck.
A FDL tummy tuck addresses the excess skin in the horizontal plane and the vertical plane. In other words, it essentially removes all the excess skin of the abdomen and flanks.
This is a very common procedure for massive weight loss patients, especially patients who have had a gastric sleeve or gastric bypass.
If you are looking for a way to remove large amounts of excess skin on the abdomen, then a Fleur De Lis tummy tuck might have been one of the first treatments to come to mind.
Both traditional and Fleur De Lis tummy tucks address body concerns on the abdomen, such as
excess skin, unwanted fat, and loose muscles
What Are the Main Differences?
Although a traditional tummy tuck and fleur de lis tuck are similar, several differences may determine which surgery is ideal for your concerns and appearance goals.
To start, while a full tummy tuck is intended to address the loose belly wall, also known as diastasis recti, the excess fat and skin on the abdomen, a fleur de lis is intended to treat the same; however, with more removal of the skin.
The traditional tummy tuck has an incision along the lower abdomen from hip bone to hip bone and is usually hidden below the panty line. There is also an incision around the umbilicus or belly button.
With a fleur de lis tummy tuck, the same horizontal incision is made; however, a vertical incision from the chest to the pelvis is also made, allowing for more skin removal. With the vertical scar, the patient can still have a belly button.
What Can You Expect Before and After Treatment?
A consultation will be required to determine your eligibility for a fleur de lis tummy tuck and to outline your treatment plan.
Your consultation will include discussing your expectations and goals for treatments, as well as examining the condition of your abdomen, particularly the amount of excess skin and fat present.
We will also review your lifestyle habits and your general medical history, including any drug allergies you have or any cosmetic treatments for body contouring you have previously had.
Pre-Procedure Guidelines
You will be given a list of pre-procedure guidelines to help you prepare for surgery. Please follow all directions carefully to ensure your surgery is successful.
Some pre-procedure guidelines may include the following:
Quit nicotine use six weeks prior to and after surgery
Avoid drinking alcohol
Discontinue taking blood-thinning medications
Do not take certain supplements
Because this is a surgery, you will need to arrange transportation after completing your procedure as you cannot drive yourself home.
Post-Procedure Guidelines
After your surgery, you will be given a list of post-procedure guidelines to guide you through your recovery period. It’s essential to follow these directions to minimize your discomfort and ensure you heal well from your treatment. Some post-procedure guidelines may include the following:- Avoid strenuous activities
- Engage in light exercises such as walking
- Do not drink alcohol
- Drink plenty of water
- Take prescribed medications
- Regularly clean and change bandages
- Mild hyperbaric oxygen can aid in healing
- Avoid exposure to excessive heat, such as hot tubs and saunas
- Avoid direct sunlight on the surgical site
Recovery
Both a traditional tummy tuck and a fleur de lis tummy tuck will require significant recovery periods. Despite the fleur de lis having larger incisions, the recovery is virtually the same. On average, most patients recover in 6 weeks, when they can resume most normal daily activities, including work, moderate exercise, and sexual activity.
Your recovery will involve wearing a surgical garment that is meant to be worn continually for the next two weeks after your surgery. Following this, you will be required to wear a stage 2 garment for approximately four months.
This includes brands like Marena, Contour MD, Faja, and Spanx. You are encouraged to walk around every day to help in recovery, although you may want to avoid using the stairs if possible.
When Will You See the Results?
You will see some results immediately. There is usually lots of swelling; therefore, it will take several months for you to see the final results of this procedure. How Long Do Results Last?
The results of this procedure can last a lifetime. Most patients can expect to enjoy permanent results, provided care is taken to maintain results. Are You a Good Candidate?
Most adult patients healthy enough for surgery with general anesthesia are qualified for this treatment. Patients must have a BMI of less than 40. The extent of liposuction we are able to perform during a tummy tuck may vary based on the surgical plan. Qualification is sometimes determined by the amount of fat and excess tissue that needs to be eliminated. Some post-procedure guidelines may include the following:- Reduce belly fat
- Tighten loose skin
- Tone abdominal muscles
- Slim body shape
- Feel more confident
