Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)

Brachioplasty

Why Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)?

Brachioplasty is a procedure that benefits women and men in a number of ways. Cosmetic treatments and procedures are recognized today not only for enhancing a patient’s appearance but also for improving quality of life.

At Reflections Cosmetic Surgery in Cartersville, Georgia, we perform this surgery to help people like you look and feel their best.

What Is Arm Lift Surgery?

Brachioplasty is an outpatient procedure that reduces excess skin on the upper arms from the armpit to the elbow creating a more proportionate appearance. It allows for a smooth transition from the upper to the lower arm, which makes for a more shapely and youthful silhouette.

Finally, it improves mobility by eliminating excess weight. This is done primarily by cutting the excess skin and fat out; however, depending on the severity and goals, liposuction followed by Renuvion (J-Plasma) skin tightening can give a great improvement.

You can read about Renuvion by Apyx on the Renuvion Content Page.

Reviewing the Benefits

The benefits of Brachioplasty go well beyond aesthetics.

Many people, especially weight loss patients, struggle with wearing shirts that fit correctly because they are buying the shirt size that fits their arms and may not fit the rest of their body.

Having excess skin on the arms can also make it more difficult to exercise or jog. Having this removed improves overall confidence.

Physical Activity

You will be given a list of pre-procedure guidelines to help you prepare for Arms with excess fat and skin can make it difficult to enjoy physical activities like dancing, aerobics, and running.

Not only are the movements associated with these activities painful, but many people lack the confidence to exercise in front of others. Many people forego exercise altogether so as not to further aggravate their physical symptoms.

After surgery, the excess skin is removed, and pain diminishes, allowing people to enjoy healthy, active lifestyles once more.

Improved Confidence

Excess fat and skin on the arms can cause discomfort and make it challenging to maintain your confidence. On top of this is a constant worry about how you look, whether or not you can find clothes that fit, and if clothes are available to meet your needs.

Many times, shopping and social events cause such anxiety that you dread going.

How It Works

The excisional Brachioplasty surgery takes an average of three hours to complete. This depends on your arm size and the amount of tissue being removed.

During surgery, excess fat is removed via liposuction and resection or cutting the excess fat and skin out. Our staff will discuss with you the exact nature of your procedure before we begin, and we are always available to answer any questions.

If liposuction and Renuvion are determined to be the best avenue, the surgery takes about one and a half hours. It all depends on the amount of fat that needs to be liposuctioned.

Following the liposuction, the Renuvion device is then passed under the skin, heating the connective tissues to 85 degrees Celsius, causing the skin to contract.

The same small incision sites are used that were made for the liposuction. Renuvion leaves a patient with only three tiny incisions.

What to Expect

The surgery is performed to ensure an even shape of the arms. Too much skin and fat being removed should be prevented to allow for a smooth contour of the arms.

Incisions are carefully placed, the nature of which will be discussed during your consultation. A recovery period will follow surgery, and then you will be allowed to leave. You won’t be able to drive yourself, so please have someone with you.

Most patients are able to resume their regular, daily activities within about a week. Downtime is minimal, and healing is generally easier and more comfortable than expected.

How Long Do Results Last?

Most people enjoy the results of an arm lift for a very long time, whether it be a traditional Brachioplasty or a liposuction with Renuvion.

This is a permanent procedure, and patients normally do not require maintenance procedures or repeat touch-ups. However, it is essential to remember that gravitation can impact your skin as the body ages.

Who Is This Right for?

This surgery is right for nearly anyone who feels dissatisfied with their appearance or suffers physical symptoms associated with excess skin and fat on the arms.

If the skin is excessive, a traditional excisional Brachioplasty is the correct procedure. If the excess skin is mild, then the less invasive liposuction with Renuvion would be the appropriate procedure.

Healthy Goals and Expectations

Our goal is to provide you with the safest and most effective care possible. We also strive to ensure our procedures can match your expectations.

This is why, during your first consultation, we will ask what you hope to achieve from your arm lift. It’s important to have this procedure at the behest of your personal wishes and not those of a partner, spouse or loved one.

All surgeries require a degree of reflection to ensure you have them for the right reasons. We encourage you to pursue an arm lift to look and feel better for yourself – not someone else.

Time for a Change

You know your options; you’ve thought about it long enough, and now it’s time for a change.

Brachioplasty (arm lift) surgery can help you achieve a more youthful silhouette, restore your confidence, and give you back an active lifestyle. It can also eliminate the agony that persists day in and day out.
